The national college entrance examination in early June effectively closes senior high schools to visitors for a stretch around it. A May or October exchange is straightforward. Two caveats on those dates
Two things qualify the table above. The State Council publishes the official holiday arrangement each year in late autumn, so the 2027 dates above are anchor dates rather than confirmed days off. And published calendars differ on whether the 2026 Mid-Autumn and National Day breaks are formally bridged, which is one more reason to treat the whole late-September window as closed. What happens if you book too late
Nothing dramatic happens. The program just gets quietly worse, in a predictable order.
