Best Season to Visit
April–May and October–November are ideal — comfortable temperatures, low humidity. Avoid July–August (extremely hot and humid, typhoon season) and Golden Week (Oct 1–7) for company visits.
Visa Requirements
Most nationalities (UK, EU, Australia, NZ, Japan, S. Korea) enter visa-free for up to 15 days as of 2026. US, Canada and India nationals require a standard tourist (L) or group travel visa. Shanghai also offers a 144-hour transit visa-free policy for some nationalities.
Getting There
Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) serves most international long-haul routes. Hongqiao Airport (SHA) handles most domestic and regional flights. High-speed rail to Beijing: 4.5 hrs. High-speed rail to Hangzhou: 45 mins.
Recommended Hotel Area
Jing'an or Lujiazui (Pudong) for business groups — close to the financial district and major company offices. The Bund / Huangpu area for educational groups with a strong cultural focus.
