Duration, Season, Visa & Getting There
Duration & Timing
2–3 nights is typical — Dongguan is best as a specialist manufacturing day within a broader Pearl River Delta itinerary rather than a standalone destination. Most groups combine it with Guangzhou (40 mins) or Shenzhen (45 mins).
Best Season to Visit
October–April is most comfortable. Avoid June–September (typhoon season, high humidity). Factory visits are possible year-round — manufacturing in Dongguan operates on consistent schedules regardless of season.
Visa Requirements
Most nationalities (UK, EU, Australia, NZ, Japan, S. Korea) enter visa-free for up to 15 days as of 2026. US, Canada and India nationals require a standard tourist (L) or group travel visa. Dongguan is in the Greater Bay Area and is easily combined with Guangzhou or Shenzhen, both of which have major international airports.
Getting There
Dongguan does not have its own major international airport. Most groups fly into Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) or Shenzhen Bao'an (SZX) and reach Dongguan by high-speed rail (30–45 mins from either city). A new Dongguan–Huizhou Airport is under development.
Recommended Hotel Area
Nancheng District (central, close to business hotels and the city center) or the Songshan Lake high-tech zone (close to Huawei's Songshan Lake campus and advanced-manufacturing facilities).
Best-Fit Groups
Executive supply-chain & sourcing delegations, industrial-design groups, university & MBA manufacturing cohorts, and factory study tours.
