Duration, Season, Visa & Getting There
Duration & Timing
2–3 nights as part of a Pearl River Delta itinerary. As a standalone destination, 3–4 nights is recommended for groups attending the Canton Fair or with multiple factory visit requirements.
Best Season to Visit
October–April is ideal — cooler, lower humidity and peak trade season (Canton Fair runs October and April). Avoid June–September (typhoon season). The Canton Fair (April and October) is a major draw but requires accommodation to be booked months in advance.
Visa Requirements
Most nationalities (UK, EU, Australia, NZ, Japan, S. Korea) enter visa-free for up to 15 days as of 2026. US, Canada and India nationals require a standard tourist (L) or group travel visa. Guangzhou is also accessible via the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area visa-free zones.
Getting There
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) is South China's largest hub with direct routes from most major cities worldwide. High-speed rail to Shenzhen: 30–45 mins. High-speed rail to Hong Kong: 50 mins. High-speed rail to Shanghai: 8 hrs.
Recommended Hotel Area
Tianhe District (close to the financial center and most business hotels) or Panyu District (closer to major factory zones and the new Canton Fair Complex).
